Silk Hawaiian Shirts: Feel, Drape and the Care Tradeoff

Rayon, rayon blends and silk feel best against my skin. Rayon is my everyday favorite; silk adds a beautiful fluid feel when I am ready to give it the extra care it deserves.

Choose the feel you want

Silk and rayon both create fluid shirts with excellent skin feel. I especially enjoy these fabrics without an undershirt. Look for full fiber percentages, appealing drape, clean seams, strong print definition and finished-garment measurements that match a favorite shirt.

Protect the collar and preserve the feel

Follow the complete garment label and limit perspiration and abrasion at the collar and underarms. In my experience, neck stubble can be especially hard on a silk collar. Some silk feels slightly crisp after laundering, then softens again with wear and body warmth.
